""'Deutzia schneideriana " "'( ?_ l瞡弖 ) is a flowering shrub in the family Hydrangeaceae native to Anhui, Gansu, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, and perhaps Zhejiang provinces in China.
It currently contains about 1, 000 plants representing 30 genera, primarily those indigenous to Dordogne, including oak, maple, dogwood, magnolia, willow, and old varieties of apple, as well as deutzia, hibiscus, hydrangea, and peony.
Today the garden contains more than 500 old roses; alpine plants, notably from the Central Asian region; good collections of Fabaceae, Lamiaceae, and Lonicera; a wide variety of shrubs including Deutzia, dogwood, Caucasian labyrinth and topiary cut into monster shapes.
The thinner branches of shrubs are easier and quicker to force than the woody branches of trees, such as apple, azalea, deutzia, lilac, magnolia, mock orange, peach, plum and rhododendron, all of which need forcing for about four weeks before they will bloom.
Block their way with an unappetizing woody border of forsythia, kerria, Japanese maple, lilac, magnolia, sambucus, enkianthus, viburnum, flowering quince, deutzia, stewartia, rosa rugosa, mock orange, cinquefoil, caryopteris, butterfly bush, purple beautyberry and barberry, all least favorite fodder.
