Larger islets support inward zones of shrub, primarily " Tournefortia argentea ", and the largest possess a central forested region usually dominated by groves of " Pisonia grandis " trees.
It favors tropical forests, especially with " Pandanus tectorius ", " Pisonia grandis " and shrubs, but it has also been recorded from dense shrub growing below coconut palms.
Other islands remain unspoiled and support a wide range of habitats, including unique " Pisonia " forests and large clumps of the gigantic fish poison tree ( " Barringtonia asiatica " ).
The larvae are common in rotten wood and under dead bark of various trees, native and introduced, including " Pisonia ", " Tetraplasandra " and " Wikstroemia ".
It is therefore sometimes confused both with the Baobab ( " Adansonia digitata " ) or with the genera " Calpidia " or " Pisonia " which all have similar fleshy trunks.
