In 1768 Italian catch was added, and later we find ode, canzonet, and madrigal as well as the more frequent glee and catch.
In 1871 J . R . Thomas wrote a Canzonet called " Dreaming, Still Dreaming " for Mrs . Zelda Sequin of the Parepa Opera Troupe.
When the madrigal was imported into England in the late 16th century, the term canzonetta went along with it, anglicized to "'canzonet " '.
It is based on the canzonet " So ben mi ch'a bon tempo " used by Orazio Vecchi in his 1590 " Selva di varia ricreatione ".
