The Cephalotaceae is a monotypic family with but one genus and species, " Cephalotus follicularis ".
These were examined by Brown, who concluded that the plant merited its own family, and accordingly erected Cephalotaceae.
The Byblidaceae, Cephalotaceae, and Roridulaceae were placed in the Saxifragales; and the Lentibulariaceae in the Scrophulariales ( now subsumed into the Lamiales ).
The larvae of " Badisis ambulans " live in the pitchers of the endangered Albany pitcher plant ( " Cephalotus follicularis ", Cephalotaceae ).
Carnivorous plants which favour damp habitats are represented by four families including the bladderworts, pitcher-plants from the Cephalotaceae, which are endemic to Western Australia, and the Nepenthaceae.
