Several of these families contain extremely similar genetic structures and are classified under the order " Mononegavirales ".
BoDV-1 / 2 have the smallest genome ( 8.9 kilobases ) of any " Mononegavirales " member and are unique within that order in their ability to replicate within the host cell nucleus.
Gene sequence within the genome is conserved across the family due to a phenomenon known as transcriptional polarity ( see " Mononegavirales " ) in which genes closest to the 3 end of the genome are transcribed in greater abundance than those towards the 5 end.
