He became master of the Paviors'Company.
In 1928 the Paviors'Company, to which he had been elected in 1918, founded a professorship in highways engineering at the University of London named after himself.
Together with a butcher his steel hangs at his side they laugh with the pavior ( sometimes identified as a drayman ) as he courts a housemaid ( the key she holds is a symbol of domesticity ).
He continued his involvement with the ICE and also with the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund, the Worshipful Company of Paviors, the Worshipful Company of Engineers and the Civil Engineers'Club of which he became chairman.
He was also a member of a number of other committees connected with Middlesex, a member of the Worshipful Company of Paviors and the Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass and a Freeman of the City of London.
