The Syncerus caffer " ), or a giant buffalo species belonging to the genus " Pelorovis ".
During 2008, 16 African buffalo ( " Syncerus caffer " ) were introduced back to the park with the herd having grown to 23 animals by 2011.
Mammals include hippopotamus Hippopotamus amphibius, buffalo Syncerus caffer, elephant Loxodonta africana, antelopes and for the reptiles the crocodile Crocodylus sp ., although the diversity of fauna has been reported as being reduced.
Other animals found at the site include; Hippopotamus ( Hippopotamus amphibius ), Waterbuck ( Kobus ellipsiprymnus ), Roan antelope ( Hippotragus equinus ), African buffalo ( Syncerus caffer ), Leopard ( Panthera pardus ), Hyenas and African dwarf crocodile ( Osteolaemus tetraspis ).
Within a few hundred metres it is possible to see signs of Kob Kobus kob, waterbuck Kobus ellipsiprymnus, and forest buffalo Syncerus caffer nanus, and to hear putty-nosed monkeys Cercopithecus nictitans-a strange mixture of forest and savannah wildlife all at one site.
