In 1964, he moved to the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology ( UWIST ) at Cardiff.
In 1970 he became the first Sir Julian Hodge Professor of Banking and Finance at UWIST, Cardiff, a post he held until his retirement in 1985.

When UWIST and UCC merged in 1988 the Wolfson Centre became part of the School of Electrical, Electronic and Systems Engineering, which later became the Cardiff School of Engineering.
The building was part of the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology " ( UWIST ) ", which in 1988 merged into the University of Wales College Cardiff.
