Use the backsaw to remove the corners on the bottom piece.
The backsaw is used to make precise cuts, usually with a miter box or bench hook.
The backsaw cannot cut completely through the damaged siding because the top will be covered by an overlapping board.
Drive wedges under the board to raise it away from the wall, then use a backsaw to make cuts on either side of the damage.
Take a matching piece of wood and with a backsaw or a dozuki, cut a tiny cross-grain square sliver and carefully sand it to a point.
