- Ahuehuetes are frequently cultivated in Mexican parks and gardens.
- Forested areas of the municipality contain trees such as ahuehuete, mesquite, eucalyptus and Peruvian pepper.
- One dead specimen is called the Ahuehuete of Moctezuma, El Sargento ( The Sargeant ) or Centinela ( Sentinel ).
- Throughout the first section there are trees, the most famous of which are the Montezuma cypress, locally called " ahuehuetes ".
- Aside from these constructions is a cypress ( ahuehuete ) located in the center of the city that is at least 250 years old.
- This kind of cypress is known in Spanish as a sabino, in Nahuatl as an ahuehuete and in Zapotec as Yagaguichici馻, and it is Mexico s national tree.
