• Clumping in both drops is an indication of autoagglutination, so a tube test should be carried out.
• The head domain is very important for attachment to the host cell and for autoagglutination, sticking to itself.
• Autoagglutination is seen to occur in a type of immune mediated hemolytic anemia known as  cold antibody hemolytic anemia.
• Autoagglutination should also be distinguished from  Rouleaux formation wherein normal blood tends to form stacks on keeping, which disperses on dilution with normal saline.
• Infertility after anti-sperm antibody binding can be caused by autoagglutination, sperm cytotoxicity, blockage of sperm-ovum interaction, and inadequate motility.
• Diagnosis of autoagglutination can be confirmed by a positive  Direct Antiglobulin Test aka Direct Coomb s test using Coomb s serum ( positivity is seen in 75 % of cases)
