• The specific epithet " calandrinioides " likens the plant to the distantly related genus " Calandrinia ".
• Many of these plants have succulent leaves; other native succulents are from the genera " Carpobrotus ", " Calandrinia " and " Portulaca ".
• There are also animals which are unique to the island, such as a species of mockingbird, and the lava lizard; there are also unique plants such as the " Calandrinia galapagosa " and the " Lecocarpus darwinii ".
• According to Ronald Good, about 50 islands of the Southern Ocean, including " Calandrinia feltonii " of the Falkland Islands, " Pringlea antiscorbutica " of the Kerguelen Islands, and the megaherb genera of the New Zealand Subantarctic Islands.
