- Karyotype studies indicate it was the earliest species to split from the common " Capricornis " ancestor.
- Until recently, this genus also contained the serow species ( now in genus " Capricornis " ).
- The color of the Ostorhinchus capricornis is a yellowish on the top, and a golden color on the bottom.
- User : Capricornis has been inserting material which is clearly not free from various websites, from which he quotes large portions.
- "Capricornis crispus " is the only wild bovine ruminant in Japan, and is alpine meadow, and coniferous plantations.
- Three species subsequently split from " Capricornis sumatraensis " and this scientific name now only refers to the serows in Sumatra and Malaysia.
- This phenomenon is not common for all species, but species such as the Japanese serow ( " Capricornis crispus " ) are perfect examples of such behavior.
- The "'Himalayan serow "'( " Capricornis thar " ) is a goat-antelope native to the eastern Himalayas and eastern and southeastern Bangladesh.

- The name " mainland serow " was formerly referring to " Capricornis sumatraensis ", which used to be the scientific name for all serows in the mainland and Sumatra when they were all considered to be the same species.

- The "'Indochinese serow "'( " Capricornis milneedwardsii maritimus " ) is a vulnerable goat-anteope, a subspecies of the Chinese serow, native to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
- "Capricornis crispus " is socially courtship ritual resembling that of goats or gazelles, the male Japanese serow licks the female's mouth, strikes her on the hind legs with his forelegs, and rubs her genitalia with his horns.
