difluoromethylornithine การใช้

ประโยคมือถือ
  • Inactivation of ODC by difluoromethylornithine ( eflornithine ) is used to treat cancer and facial hair growth in postmenopausal females.
  • Eflornithine ( difluoromethylornithine or DFMO ), the most modern treatment, was developed in the 1970s by Albert Sjoerdsma and underwent clinical trials in the 1980s.
  • An example is the inhibitor of polyamine biosynthesis, ?-difluoromethylornithine or DFMO, which is an analogue of the amino acid ornithine, and is used to treat African trypanosomiasis ( sleeping sickness ).
  • Under the leadership of Hutner's student, Cyrus Bacchi, the former led to development of the antiparasitic drug eflornithine ( alpha-difluoromethylornithine ), widely used today against African sleeping sickness ( trypanosomiasis ).
  • Dr . Gilmour has shown that a novel therapy combining difluoromethylornithine ( an ODC inhibitor ) with an inhibitor of the polyamine transport system not only blocks tumor growth but also promotes anticancer immune responses suggesting that such therapy could heighten the effectiveness of both conventional chemotherapy and antitumor immunotherapy .
