• In 1947 Edinburgh University awarded him an honorary doctorate ( DLit ).
• He was awarded an honorary doctorate ( DLit ) by Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand in 2010.
• DCL DLit LLD ( 5 April 1879, Aberdeen  6 October 1944 ) was a Scottish constitutional lawyer, scholar of Sanskrit and Indologist.
