• Oat grass has been used traditionally for medicinal purposes, including to help balance the menstrual cycle, treat dysmenorrhoea and for osteoporosis and urinary tract infections.
• It has shown positive initial results in tests against Raynaud's disease, dysmenorrhoea, and tocolysis, although it is not yet approved for clinical use.
• Actions : Clears heat, cools blood, invigorates blood and dispel stasis to treat irregular menses, dysmenorrhoea, amenorrhea, abdominal pain, and fixed abdominal masses.
• The compound was discovered by Pfizer in its Sandwich, Kent research center, as a potential treatment for dysmenorrhoea, an indication for which V1a antagonists have shown efficacy.
