• Many types of animals consume this plant, particularly ssp . " heliophila ".
• It is similar to " Macroglossum heliophila ", but the body and wings have a much deeper colour and the upper-and undersides are almost black.
• The latter five genera contained among them only seven species, having been differentiated from the " Heliophila " genus mainly on the morphological differences of the fruits they bore.
• Flowers of the genus " Mesembryanthemum " are common hosts of " S . trimeni ", as are many of the African daisy species and some " Heliophila ".
• Following extensive analysis of molecular evidence ( nuclear ( ITS ) and plastid ( trnL-F ) DNA sequence data ), Heliophileae was found to be monophyletic and species of the five small genera were reduced to synonymy with " Heliophila ".
