mylodontidae การใช้
- This family is related to the other families of extinct ground sloths, Megatheriidae, Mylodontidae, Nothrotheriidae, and Scelidotheriidae.
- The formation contains abundant mammal fossils including Osteichthyan fishes, birds and mammals such as rodents, marsupials, Mylodontidaes and Notoungulatas.
- However, this species was later reclassified in their own genus, " Pseudoprepotherium ", as a basal member of another family of ground sloths, the Mylodontidae.
- ""'Scelidotherium " "'is an extinct genus of ground sloth of the family Mylodontidae, endemic to South America during the middle Pleistocene epoch.
- This species of ground sloth, once assigned to the family Scelidotheriidae, is now assigned to subfamily Scelidotheriinae within Mylodontidae . " C . ferelloii " first appeared in the Oligocene and died out during the Middle Miocene.
- Together with the rest of Mylodontidae and the engimatic " Pseudoprepotherium ", the scelidotheriines form the superfamily Mylodontoidea . " Chubutherium " is an ancestral and very plesiomorphic member of this subfamily and does not belong to the main group of closely related genera.
