• NEWP programs that contain unsafe constructs are initially non-executable.
• This facility is available in NEWP.
• The Burroughs dialects included special Bootstrapping dialects such as ESPOL and NEWP . The latter is still used for Unisys MCP system software.
• Originally written in 1961 in Burroughs Extended ALGOL, in the 1970s it was converted to NEWP, a better structured, more robust, and more secure form of ESPOL.
