• "Pernettya mucronata ", is a species of flowering plant in the native to southern Argentina and Chile.

• In the past, the Southern Hemisphere species were often treated as the separate genus " Pernettya ", but no consistent reliable morphological or genetic differences support recognition of two genera, and they are now united in the single genus " Gaultheria ".
• He published a joint paper with Brian Laurence Burtt in 1935 on the cushion plant genera " Gaultheria " and " Pernettya " ( now include in " Gaultheria " ) from alpine habitats in Asia, North and South America, and Australasia.
• Multiple studies of the Gaultherieae have now shown " Pernettya ", " Diplycosia " ( already including " Pernettyopsis " ), and " Tepuia " to be nested within " Gaultheria ", although publication formalizing the transfers are yet to be published.
