- According to Yaska and Sayana the Ribhus represent the rays of the sun.
- In later Hindu mythology, the Ribhus are born in human form, who then bring their innovation to earth, remain humble and kind.
- From Atharvaveda it is learnt that Sudhanvan Angirasa had three sons, Ribhu, Vibhu and Vaja, collectively known as Ribhus who were intelligent sages.
