• It comprises 10 genera, of which " Tectaria " is by far the largest.
• "Dracoglossum " was originally treated in " Tectaria ", but is not related and was therefore described in family Dryopteridaceae.
• Typical species growing on the walls of sinkholes include brittle maidenhair fern ( " Adiantum tenerum " ), broad halberd fern ( " Tectaria heracleifolia " ), creeping fern ( " Thelypteris reptans " ), least halberd fern, and slender spleenwort.
