eozoon การใช้
- Sir William Dawson's name is especially associated with " Eozoon canadense ", which in 1865 he described as an organism having the structure of a foraminifer.
- He took a keen and laborious interest in the evidence adduced by Canadian geologists as to the organic nature of the so-called " Eozoon canadense ", discovered in the Laurentian strata, also called the North American craton, and at the time of his death had nearly finished a monograph on the subject, defending the now discredited theory of its animal origin.
- In the course of his long and active career he engaged in much Rhaetic for the uppermost division of that system; he supported at first the view of the organic nature of " Eozoon canadense " ( 1866 and 1876 ), he devoted special attention to Foraminifera, and described those of the Eocene strata of the northern Alps ( 1868 ); he dealt also with " Receptaculites " ( 1875 ) which he regarded as a genus belonging to the Foraminifera.
