• A free software version, with several other applications, is Ghostscript.
• Pstoedit uses ghostscript to perform the first part of the conversion process.
• Recent versions of Ghostscript are not licensed under the AFPL.
• It uses the Ghostscript file format converter and RedMon printer redirection software.
• When PostScript support is needed for such a printer, Ghostscript can be used.
• Ghostscript and GhostPCL are examples of software RIPs.
• Ghostscript and ImageMagick will convert things into PDF ( and sometimes vice versa ).
