• Willy Ley, in Exotic Zoology, speculated that it might depict a Sivatherium.
• With them lived hippopotamuses, rhinoceroses of various species, and a colossal four-horned ruminants, the Sivatherium.
• They were early ancestors to the sloth bear, Sivatherium, an ancient giraffe, Colossochelys atlas, a giant tortoise named the Siwaliks giant tortoise Megalochelys atlas amongst other creatures.
• The Siwalik fossils include mastodons, hippopotamus, rhinoceros, sivatherium, a large four-horned ruminant, giraffe, horses, camels, wolves, dholes, porcupines, rabbits and a host of other mammals.
• There are two main groups of extinct giraffids : one group with robust limb bones, the Sivatheriinae, represented by " Sivatherium " during the Plio-Pleistocene, and another with long, slender limb bones classified in different subfamilies; either Giraffinae and Palaeotraginae or just Giraffinae ( with the two tribes, Giraffini and Palaeotragini ).

" Giraffokeryx " appeared 15 mya in the Indian subcontinent and resembled an okapi or a small giraffe, and had a longer neck and similar ossicones . " Giraffokeryx " may have shared a clade with more massively built giraffids like " Sivatherium " and " Bramatherium ".
