• Sequoioideae and several other genera have been transferred from the former Taxodiaceae family to Cupressaceae based on DNA analysis.
• Extant conifer families that flourished during the Jurassic included the Araucariaceae, Cephalotaxaceae, Pinaceae, Podocarpaceae, Taxaceae and Taxodiaceae.
• However, recent research has shown that the Taxodiaceae, with the single exception of " Sciadopitys ", should be merged into the family Cupressaceae.
